Freeboarding

Freeboarding is a growing sport that combines snowboarding and skateboarding. It allows for all the elements of snowboarding to be taken on to the streets. The center/ free wheels act like a snowboards base and the outer wheels at as the edges which allow for tight carves.

Longboarding

Longboarding combines skateboarding with a downhilling or longboard. It allows a rider to ride down a hill with a lot of speed and control and it controls like a surfer would have on a wave with fluid movements. It is less able to be used for skateboard tricks.

Carving/Sliding

Carving Can be performed on both a freeboard and a longboard and it's just like on a snowboard. Just going down a hill and moving back forth across the hill shifting your weight from one edge to the other.

Sliding Can easily be done on a freeboard and longboard is a little more tough. It is when you are moving from center wheels to outer wheels. Just like a snowboarder would slide on the base of the board. Allows for quick turns, speed control, and best maneuvering ability while on a hill.

Effect on US community

Freeboarding and longboarding are just starting to get around the country and effect people. Longboarding has been around for a lot longer then freeboarding and many kids have starting picking up the growing sports as hobbies and past times. Most snowboarders during the summer go into snow withdrawal and have to find something to do that will involve something like snowboarding. Some have started to pick up longboarding and freeboarding as a way to still board without snow. Freeboarding is a new sport that is just starting to grow and more people are just starting to pick it up.
